Breaking Through Your Limits!
Have you ever thought about this, “who is the one that hinders your progress most?” What flashed across your mind immediately could be the faces of people you know; you parents, your siblings, your friends, your boss, your co-workers and almost everyone else. How about yourself? The honest one would definitely include himself or herself in the list. I was reading an email from a friend this morning about the world being a mirror and it dawned upon me that we are the greatest hindrance in our own lives. There is no way one can control how others think about him/her but one can definitely control how one think about himself/herself.
How often are you affected by something that people said? I know I am guilty of that sometimes. I remembered a quotation by Abraham Lincoln that goes something like this, “I am not affected by what others are saying as long as I know what they are saying is not true of me.” As I recite this quotation repetitively everyday, I know that I will be less and less affected but what others are saying about me. But it certainly does not discourage one from heeding positive advice.
Thus speaking, one must always be flexible to take in good advice which can create positive change in one’s life. If what others said (which is not true of you) affect you, it may appear that they were hindering your progress. But in actual fact, you are the one hindering you.
I remembered when I first started chatting in the internet, I used the nickname ‘mirror.’ Of course the reason why I used that nickname was not because I was vain but rather to constantly reminds myself to reflect on my thought, actions and words. I did not realize then that I was doing myself a great service. Since oneself is the biggest hindrance in one’s progress in life, what would be a better way than to constantly take stock on ones thought, actions and words.

Quoting from the email I read, “There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your growth: It is You” How often did you tell yourself that something is not achievable or not within your reach? Probably there might be some truths in what you said. Let’s put that aside first. Have there ever been cases before where you thought you cannot achieve something, but you went on and achieved it? Can’t think of any? How about the time when you were still a baby? Did you not learn to walk and to run eventually? You are right, when you were a baby, you did not know how to spell the word ‘impossible’. You just picked yourself up one more time after you fell, you learnt to balance yourself and eventually took your steps. The truth is no one is born knowing how to walk - one learns along the way.
“Be the change you want to see in this world.” — Mahatma Gandhi

Gandhi certainly said it well in the above quotation. There is only one person who is capable to set limits to one’s growth and it is one. You are the only one who can create positive change in your life. You are the only person who knows what you want in life and you will know that when you look for it hard within you. I would like to share with you a passage which I like:
Your life Today is the result of the choices you made Yesterday. Your life Tomorrow will be the result of the choices you make Today. What are the choices you would make Today that will change your life Tomorrow!

How To Live The Good Life

Living the good life means different things to different people. There is, however, a slightly ambiguous, mutual understanding. “The good life” is the life that you would like to live broken down to its most basic form. It deals with the simple pleasures that make you happy, the compassionate deeds you perform, the personal goals you strive to achieve, the relationships you nurture and the legacy you leave behind. Sincere personal fulfillment is generally the collective end result.

“The good life” is also about appreciating all your time, not just your leisure time. Far too many people get caught up in the mad rush of a corporate lifestyle and grow completely numb to the little moments, the simple building blocks of time that make life magical. Time, after all, is the single greatest element of life.

This world, after all our science and sciences, is still a miracle; wonderful, magical and more, to whosoever will think of it.
- Thomas Carlyle

  1. Slow Down – Urgency and haste instantly diminish accuracy, awareness and happiness. There is a big difference between getting things done and getting things done effectively.
  2. Appreciate Life’s Simple Pleasures – The best things in life are free. From a quiet lakeside sunset to sleeping in on a rainy day, life’s greatest simple pleasures can only be purchased with mindful awareness.
  3. Foster and Nurture Relationships – A happy, fulfilling life is a life shared with family and friends.
  4. Be Self Sufficient – Freedom is the greatest gift. Self sufficiency is the greatest freedom.
  5. Learn About Different Things – In life, a jack of all trades is far more equipped than a master of only one. Combining the two is the key.
  6. Concentrate on Your Passions – True wealth comes naturally to those who are passionate about their endeavors.
  7. Travel to Distant Places – There are places in this world that will open your mind to realities you’ve never imagined in your wildest dreams. These realities will inject your conscience with healthy, new perspectives.
  8. Talk to Strangers – Quite simply, this is how you will meet great people.
  9. Exercise Your 5 Senses – Sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. Each provides a gateway to rewarding personal experiences.
  10. Use What You Have – Success is not the byproduct of limitless resources. Success happens when you stretch the limits of the available resources.
  11. Assist Others – What goes around comes around. Nuff said.
  12. Be Clear on Your Goals – You will never get where you want to go if you don’t know what you want.
  13. Make a Decision – Indecision is the leading cause of missed opportunity and wasted time.
  14. Practice General Time Management – Trying to achieve your goals without doing a little time planning is like sailing the open ocean without a compass and map.
  15. Leave Time for Spontaneous Excursions – Opportunity sometimes knocks at unexpected times. Make sure you have enough flexibility in your schedule to respond accordingly.
  16. Educate Yourself on the Facts – Ignorance is only bliss in a vacuum. In the real world you will eventually be confronted with the facts, and by then it may`be too late. Be aware of reality, get your facts straight and make educated decisions.
  17. Think More, Talk Less – The more you think and the less you talk, the more you will learn and the less you will miss.
  18. Own Up to Your Actions – Either you own up to your actions or your actions will ultimately own you.
  19. Keep Your Promises – Not doing so guarantees loneliness and failure.
  20. Always Find the Positive Lesson – Every negative outcome holds a positive lesson. Finding it is the key to greatness.
  21. Forget Perfection, Find SatisfactionPerfect is the enemy of good. The idea of perfection is based primarily on personal opinion, circumstance and flexibility. Instead of searching for perfection, find something that satisfies your needs.
  22. Eat Clean – Never doubt the old adage “you are what you eat”.
  23. Sleep Well – A tired mind is inefficient and unhappy.
  24. Laugh – Some of the most memorable moments in your life will be moments spent in laughter.
  25. Be Here Now – Right now is the only moment guaranteed to you. Right now is life. Don’t miss it.

Positive Attitude...

A gentleman once visited a temple under Construction where he saw a sculptor making an idol of God. Suddenly he Noticed a similar idol lying nearby.
Surprised he asked the sculptor, "Do you Need two statues of the same idol?" "No," Said the sculptor without looking up, "We Need only one, but the first one got Damaged at the last stage."

The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage. "Where is
the damage?" asked the gentleman.

"There is a scratch on the nose of the idol." said the sculptor, still busy with his work.
"Where are you going to install the idol?"
The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high.
"If the idol is that far, who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman asked.

The sculptor stopped his work, looked up at the gentleman, smiled and said, "I know it and God knows it!"

Moral - The desire to excel should be exclusive of the fact whether someone appreciates it or not. Excellence is a drive from inside, not outside.
Excel at a task today - not necessarily for someone else to notice but for your own satisfaction.

"Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit." –Aristotle

E= mc2
Excellence= Motivation * Square of confidence.

5 Steps to Reaching Your Goals

You have discovered what you want in your life. You have even gone so far as to "list" your desires.
It's time to create a way for you to achieve the goals you have in mind. Without a detailed method for accomplishing your objectives you may find you wander in circles, sabotaging your success before you even get started.

1. You first need to ask yourself if you are truly committed to your desired outcome. Be real, be true, be authentic.

2. Next you have to honestly answer the question...are you willing to do the "work" to get there? There are no quick fixes and no one standing there giving you the answers. It is all inside you!

3. Take that "list" of desires or goals you have made and write out each one in as much detail as you can. For example, don't just write "I want a really great job", write down the kind of dream job you want, describe the people you work with, what is the environment you want to work in, what salary do you desire...you get the idea! This process works with weight loss, building relationships, creating a life plan and any other desires you wish to work through.

4. With the details you have created, design an action plan. More details are involved here. What steps will you take first? What are the next steps? Remember to acknowledge your accomplishments at the beginning and throughout the entire process. Recognizing your successes will propel you through the steps to reaching your goals.

5. Build a support system. Creating resources and people that can assist you can be one of your greatest assets. We all need support in our journey to success. Allow the resources that are non-judgement, positive and re-affirming.

When you trust in yourself and your ability to create from your heart, you will see that you can accomplish your objectives and live life with confidence.

Never Travel So Fast In Life

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and drove the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car, shouting, "What was that all about and who are you?
Just what the heck are you doing?
That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money.
Why did you do it?"
The young boy was apologetic. "Please mister ... please, I'm sorry... I didn't know what else to do," he pleaded.
"I threw the brick because no one else would stop..."
With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car.
"It's my brother," he said.
"He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up."
Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, "Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me."
Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out his fancy handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay.
"Thank you and may God bless you," the grateful child told the stranger.
Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the little boy push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home. It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message: Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!

Never Loose Hope

If you can look at the sunset and smile,
then you still have hope

If you can find beauty in the colors of a small flower,
then you still have hope

If you can find pleasure in the movement of a butterfly,
then you still have hope

If the smile of a child can still warm your heart,
then you still have hope

If you can see the good in other people,
then you still have hope

If the rain breaking on a roof top can still lull you to sleep,
then you still have hope

If the sight of a rainbow still makes you stop and stare in wonder,
then you still have hope

If the soft fur of a favored pet still feels pleasant under your fingertips,
then you still have hope

If you meet new people with a trace of excitement and optimism,
then you still have hope

If you give people the benefit of a doubt,
then you still have hope

If you still offer your hand in friendship to others
that have touched your life, then you still have hope

If receiving an unexpected card or letter still brings
a pleasant surprise, then you still have hope

If the suffering of others still fills you with pain and frustration,
then you still have hope

If you refuse to let a friendship die, or accept that it must end,
then you still have hope

If you look forward to a time or place of quiet and reflection,
then you still have hope

If you still buy the ornaments, put up the Christmas tree or cook the turkey,
then you still have hope

If you still watch love stories or want the endings to be happy,
then you still have hope

If you can look to the past and smile,
then you still have hope.

If, when faced with the bad, when told everything is futile, you can still
look up and end the conversation with the phrase yeah.BUT.. Then you still have hope

Hope is such a marvelous thing. It bends, it twists, it sometimes hides, but rarely does it break It sustains us when nothing else can It gives us reason to continue and courage to move ahead, when we tell ourselves we’d rather give in

Hope puts a smile on our face when the heart cannot manage
Hope puts our feet on the path when our eyes cannot see it
Hope moves us to act when our souls are confused of the direction.
Hope is a wonderful thing, something to be cherished and nurtured, and something that will refresh us in return and it can be found in each of us, and it can bring light into the darkest of places

Never lose hope!!!
